  Bepton is a very straggly place, with no village centre to speak of. The 12th century church is up a dead-end lane, next to a pond shaded by a veteran oak tree. The edifice itself is very simple and not very pretty, because the tower was never finished and looks squat and grim. The view of the downs escarpment from the churchyard is spectacular. The interior is attractive and very peaceful with an interesting Easter Sepulchre in the chancel.
